I do however wish more devs would realize that they need to push for better game prices and quality rather than fixed $60 even on PC where they don't pay platform licensing. With Steam refunds you don't really need demos anymore. Overall with Steam, I've been pretty happy. Maybe GTA4 with their crappy club requirement was the last serious issue. I honestly can hardly remember when I had any DRM related issues. Personally, I don't give a rats ass about DRM as long as it doesn't affect game usability or performance and isn't online only. What happens if uplay, steam, or origin shutter the doors one day? Removing DRM would mean if I kept a local backup I could keep playing the same way I can still put my 3.5in floppies in for Space Quest or Doom 2 and play the original copy. I've never seen anything positive about DRM, personally see it as anti consumer and possibly a threat to digital preservation of games. Its just like being a kid and letting a friend borrow one of my old SNES carts, etc. With physical console disks I can let a friend borrow the game while I finish up other ones. Start of dishonored 2, perf is great then tanks after your past the 2hr mark preventing you from getting a refund. The beach area runs great in crysis but once you hit the alien zone frame rates tanked. If they brought demos or shareware back this wouldn't be an issue.Ĭrysis also brings up another good point I heard same with Dishonored 2. I love seeing the new shinies but never intended to play it in that state. I pirated Crysis back when it was new and was to poor to afford a pc that could really run it. The old phrase but can it run Crysis is the best way I can summarize it. I don't think this is like a coin with only two sides. I see everyone saying people who want game cracked only are out for free games. If their goal is to prevent piracy for a short time after launch then they should promise to remove it after a month or two, if they did that I wouldn't mind DRM since any issues it creates would only be present for a short time.

DRM provides zero benefit to me as a consumer and history has shown that the more effective DRM is the more problematic it is, I would need conclusive proof otherwise before believing it after being lied to about it so many times.

I think it's also worth mentioning that Denuvo is basically the new version of Securom since they bought out Sony DADC and used it as their base. There hasn't been a single form of DRM that has prevented piracy and wasn't eventually discovered to cause issues, from what I've heard Denuvo causes problems for modding which is already a huge problem in my eyes even if it doesn't cause performance issues or weaken the security of my PC. I've heard the same things said about Securom, Starforce, and other invasive/problematic DRM before the issues were discovered.
